Tunbridge Wells football fans warned after supporters jump on cars
Football fans have been told to ‘keep safe’ and ‘behave responsibly’ by Kent Police, ahead of England’s World Cup quarter final.
The force’s warning comes after groups caused disruption to traffic in Tunbridge Wells after the Three Lions’ round of 16 win against Colombia on Tuesday.
Fans were filmed jumping onto cars on Mount Pleasant Road around 10pm, shortly after England won on penalties.
Police officers attended but the crowd dispersed and no offences were reported.
Kent Police are hoping to avoid similar scenes when England play Sweden at 3pm tomorrow [Saturday] for a place in the semi-final.
Chief Superintendent Claire Nix said: ‘Kent Police has provided additional resources to patrol at key times to deal with any incidents of disorder.
“I would encourage all football fans to enjoy the rest of the World Cup, keep yourself safe and behave responsibly.”
